Driver Training
Addison Lee has a 3 month waiting list for drivers and we have never had the necessity to advertise for driver recruitment. All drivers are required to sit an NVQ level 2 training course and we are delighted to report that, on average, 60 drivers per month are achieving this award. Additionally, Addison Lee has our own comprehensive driver training processes in place to ensure that our standards are constantly monitord and improved. All Addison Lee drivers are employed subject to meeting the minimum pass requirement (80%) of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) examination. In addition to the IAM examination, all drivers are required to pass our in house ‘knowledge’ test, ensuring they have a high level of familiarity with the London area.
Prior to commencement of employment with Addison Lee, all drivers are required to sit a full day training course designed to highlight the ethos of the company as well as singling out the expectations of their role. A full half day of this course is aimed at appearance, customer service and professional standards of conduct. The session includes a professionally made, in-house DVD (available to view on request) and gives clear indications of the standards that are required.
We have also recently recruited a full time motorcyclist to perform random checks and we regularly perform 'mystery shopper' tests, using existing clients and members of the public. The criteria set out include, but are not limited to:
- Interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness
- Driver appearance and adherence to uniform policy
- Driver helpfulness
- Driver willingness to follow passenger requests
- Timeliness of arrival
- Overall passenger experience
Any driver who scores poorly will be required to return to our in-house driver training school to sit a refresher examination.
