Do I need my own vehicle?
No. Addison Lee will provide you with a top of the range premium minicab which you can keep to use in your own time for as long as you remain with the company.
How much rental will I pay on my minicab?
Addison Lee operates an incentive based system for vehicle rental. For every job you complete, you will be awarded a set number of points. The more points you achieve, the less rental you pay on your car.

Do I need experience?
Not necessarily. If you are enthusiastic, reliable, have a good knowledge of London and speak good English, you are welcome to apply to become an Addison Lee driver. You will need a Public Carriage Office license, but we can help you obtain this if you do not possess one already.
What training will I receive?
Addison Lee has a six-strong driver training team who will ensure that you have all the knowledge and training you require. All drivers have the opportunity to pass an NVQ level 2 award in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving. If necessary, you will be given time to improve your knowledge of London before being asked to sit a topographical test. Additionally, you must pass an online Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) examination to ensure that you are competent at spotting and avoiding hazards. You will be fully supported by our Driver Liaison team throughout your employment with Addison Lee.
How much will I earn?
The answer to this question is completely in your own hands. Naturally, the more journeys you complete, the more money you will receive.
Will I be paid cash for every journey?
There are two types of booking at Addison Lee. Our priority service is account based bookings. For these journeys, you will not receive cash from the client, but will pay you weekly, directly into your bank account.
Secondly, there are cash bookings. For these journeys, the passenger will pay you directly, in cash, when you have completed the journey. These jobs are useful to top up your cash flow.
Will I be self-employed?
Yes. All of Addison Lee drivers are self-employed.
Do I pay for my own fuel?
Yes, it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that his vehicle always contains enough fuel to complete each journey.
Will I have satellite navigation in my car?
Yes, all vehicles are fitted with sat-nav.
What do I need to become a driver?
Before starting work with Addison Lee, you will need to provide us with a medical certificate from your GP, your driving licence and 2 forms of identification clearly showing your current address.
