Addison Lee takes a bite out of the Big Apple

Europe’s largest minicab firm launches in New York City

Addison Lee, Europe’s largest minicab company, today announces the next step in its international growth plan with its New York City launch. The move across the Atlantic will give the company access to a fleet that exceeds 4,000 vehicles.

The extension of Addison Lee’s technology and services to the city has been driven by its continued growth in London, as well as strong demand from its existing business clients who also operate out of New York, including a number of major blue chip corporates including a leading investment bank.

From this month, New Yorkers who open managed corporate accounts with Addison Lee will be able to book its cars in the same way as their European counterparts; via a dedicated call centre, website and smartphone app within the New York and Tri State area. Addison Lee will offer the same fixed price standard as they do in the UK and passengers will be able to chose from multiple services including standard, executive and hybrid vehicles.

The move follows the continued investment from Addison Lee’s private equity owner Carlyle Group. Since acquiring Addison Lee in early 2013, Carlyle has been focused on the expansion of the business both in the UK and internationally by enhancing customers’ access to the company’s extensive fleet and significant new innovations in customer experience and proprietary technology platforms.

Liam Griffin, Chief Executive Officer of Addison Lee commented, “After London, New York is the world’s next biggest taxi market – worth £2.2billion – so it seemed like a natural step for us as Europe’s largest minicab firm. We already have a great number of existing corporate clients in New York, so demand is already there and it’s an opportunity with real scale.”

Addison Lee’s proprietary booking and allocation software has also been developed and integrated into a number of existing New York ground transport providers with further development planned for the future.
