Apple Pay coming to Addison Lee’s customers in the UK at launch
Addison Lee, Europe’s largest premium car service, will offer its customers the ability to pay with Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay, when it launches in the UK next month.
The integration of Apple Pay makes it even easier for users to book journeys using the Addison Lee app, allowing them to book a car in just a few taps. Not only will it improve the experience for Addison Lee’s existing customers, but it will also make it quick and easy for new customers to book and pay for a car on-demand.
Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card.
Peter Boucher, Chief Commercial Officer of Addison Lee, said: “We’re thrilled to be one of the first mobile apps to support Apple Pay in the UK. Our customers are continually asking for faster and more convenient ways to book and pay for their journeys and integrating Apple Pay will provide them with an even greater and more secure user experience. This comes alongside our recent launches of a new mobile app, Apple Watch app and ClubLee loyalty scheme, and maintains our commitment to being an industry leader in technology and innovation.”
Addison Lee is offering Apple Pay within its app, available on the App Store. Online shopping in Addison Lee is as simple as the touch of a finger with Touch ID, so there’s no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. When paying for goods and services within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards.
