Barcelona City Guide

Barcelona is a city that truly has everything to offer: breath-taking architecture, world-class gastronomy and nightlife, a vibrant art scene and a beach to complement its warm Mediterranean climate. As the southern gateway to Europe, Barcelona is also at the centre of the emerging economic Eurozone, making it a vital city for doing business and attracting both local and foreign enterprise.

Are you visiting Barcelona on business? Wondering what to do with your free time? Here are a few suggestions from us.

  1. La Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia, designed by Gaudi, is Barcelona’s best known and most awe-inspiring church. Although still under construction (a process that has been ongoing since 1882!) it is the most visited monument in Spain, attracting visitors from all over the world with its intricacy and sheer scale.

  1. Indulge in Some Catalan Cuisine

World-famous Catalan cooking and sumptuous local delicacies provide the bedrock of Barcelona’s vibrant culinary palate. Nibble at Basque-style tapas at one of the many tapas bars throughout the city, feast on rich Paella, enjoy Galician seafood on an outdoor table overlooking the beach, or allow yourself to be tempted by the treats on display in the chocolate shops.

  1. Unwind on the Beach

Barcelona’s sun-soaked beaches are the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city streets. Stretch out on the sand to work on your tan or take a refreshing dip in the sea; you can also try your hand at water sports such as kayaking and paddle-boarding, or enjoy the sunset from the water on an evening cruise.

  1. Stroll Along La Ramblas

Barcelona’s most famous street is a vibrant window into Catalan culture, flanked by striking architecture and plane trees, and alive with hawkers, buskers, mime artists, pavement artists and more. The lively pedestrian promenade is the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere, or enjoy a jug of Sangria and some tapas at one of the charming cafes.

  1. Sample the Nightlife

If you need to let your hair down a little after meetings, the night in Barcelona provides endless choices and possibilities. Enjoy elegant sunset drinks on a panoramic terrace, dance flamenco in the lively bars, or hit the world-famous nightclubs.
