Addison Lee Group is Helping London Wrap Up Warm This Winter
A message from Robert McGinn, CCO
Did you know that 320,000 people are currently recorded as homeless in Britain? The housing and homelessness charity Shelter reports that in the last year, the overall number increased by 13,000, meaning that one in every 200 people in Britain is homeless (either sleeping on the streets or in temporary accommodation, including hostels and B&Bs). London reported the highest level of homelessness, with almost 170,000 people without a place to call home – this means more than half of the homeless population of the entire country are here in our capital.
At Addison Lee Group, our heritage and identity are deeply entwined with that of London: this is where our story began over forty years ago. As such, we feel a responsibility to the city we call home and are committed improving the communities we serve through volunteering and outreach. Which is why this winter we are supporting Wrap Up London, as part of Hands On London’s annual coat collection initiative.
Each year in the run up to Christmas, Wrap Up London volunteers gather unwanted coats from the public at locations around London to keep people who are at risk warmer and safer in the winter months. The donated coats are sorted and distributed to various charities and organisations which provide frontline services to the homeless and the most vulnerable in our society.
These charities and organisations are often able to use the winter coat donations as a starting point to establish contact with people in need. This ensures that when a person reaches out to a charity for a winter coat, they can access other resources and forms of support available to them, allowing them to build a relationship with an organisation that could offer year-round support.
We’re proud to be involved in such a meaningful and necessary cause this year – one that makes a real difference to the UK’s most vulnerable – and we’d urge others to get involved in any way possible. Please give whatever you can, and help someone wrap up warm this winter.

Thank you for your support.
