June 2022: An Update From Our CCO

It was great to see so many people celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at the beginning of this month. While Addison Lee has not been around quite as long as the Queen, like her, we have been at the heart of London for many decades and we share her resilient spirit and pride in putting people first.

As the country emerges from the pandemic, our industry – like others – is facing significant challenges with the availability of drivers.

We have been working hard to recruit drivers and are seeing some positive results; however, there is still some way to go.

As you know, we have decades of experience in our operations team, and you will not find more knowledgeable people anywhere else in the taxi and private hire industry. This team, supported by data and our commercial expertise, is closely monitoring demand vs supply for all of our services. We are always looking at ways to improve and as part of this, we are running a number of operational trials currently. The initial performance data from the trial has been extremely positive. If you would like to know more, please contact your account manager.

Last month our CEO Liam Griffin was featured in an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard. Liam provided his insights on the two years since he returned to the business and some of the changes the management team have introduced. There are some personal reflections and what motivations Liam to run a successful business. As someone who has known and worked with Liam for many years, his passion for Addison Lee is front and centre and I know that we have the right leadership team to take this business forward – no matter what comes our way.

Finally, we are excited to be prominent at two external events in June. On 15th and 16th June, Andrew Wescott, our Director of Sustainability and Regulation, will be speaking at MOVE 2022. Andrew will be setting out our pledge to electrify our fleet by 2023 and the importance of partners – including our customers – in helping us to deliver this ambitious pledge. If you are attending MOVE, then please swing by to hear Andrew.

Later in June – on the 29th and 30th – Addison Lee will be hosting one of the prized stands at the Business Travel Show Europe at Excel London. We will be showcasing the aspects of our business that make us industry leading. We will have one of our fully electric VW ID.4s available on stand for customers to get a feel for the comfort our vehicle of choice has to offer. We will also provide you with a sneak peek at the next innovation we will be bringing to market, our brand-new ground transportation management product has been designed and developed by us and our teams will be on-hand to showcase all it has to offer. In addition, there will be further information on our safety campaign that we are developing in partnership with UN Women UK.

Pop by to see us at stand G30 if you are attending BTS this year. If you haven’t registered yet you can do so here. We will serving iced coffee on stand across both days  so visitors can cool down from the June heat. Join us from 4pm on 29th June for Pimms and something MagicAL!

Thanks, and have a great June.
