Records set to be broken on London’s biggest-ever Christmas party night

Auditors likely to party through the night, as minicab firm Addison Lee publishes new data on Christmas party trends

Despite the economic gloom, Addison Lee is predicting that tonight, Thursday 13th December, will be a record-breaking night for Christmas parties in London.

Based on a study of trends from recent years, the minicab firm has identified this evening as the time they will see their highest-ever number of daily account bookings, beating last year’s total of more than 18,000 account journeys, as more Londoners celebrate the festive season. Records will continue to be broken on Friday, which looks set to be the overall busiest night of the year, with a combined cash and account job total of more than 35,000 journeys.

Addison Lee’s analysis of corporate account holders’ journeys also reveals that Auditors are among the most likely professions to stay out into the small hours – contradicting the straight-laced reputation often associated with the accounting industry – whilst Bankers are the most likely profession to bypass the festive celebrations altogether and take a car straight home from working late at 11pm.

Following London’s biggest ever office party night, Friday 14th December is expected to be one of the capital’s least productive days, with many office workers struggling to recover from big corporate celebrations taking place the night before.

With an increasing number of Londoners enjoying Christmas festivities across town, Addison Lee also anticipates a record-breaking number of journeys to be made on Friday 14th as the party season reaches its peak.

This year’s record-breaking figures are a sign that business confidence is gradually increasing, as we slowly emerge from a double-dip recession.

Addison Lee’s MD Liam Griffin commented: “December is always a busy and exciting time in London, but tonight and Friday are set to see a record-number of parties as Londoners enjoy their festive celebrations.”

He continues: “As Addison Lee prepares to make the greatest number of journeys we have ever made in one day, we have invested in cutting edge technology to support the huge growth in app and online bookings, which now account for almost half of all journeys. With London’s largest fleet of premium minicabs we’re looking forward to transporting partygoers in style, safety and comfort, no matter what time of the day or night – even if you live south of the river.”
