September 2021: An Update From Our CCO
Hi Everyone,
It is certainly feeling autumnal and the annual debate about when the heating is turned on in the Bishop household is in full swing. I am all about the layers. While the nights may be drawing in, it’s been a great month at Addison Lee with much to celebrate.
Our pledge to be fully electric by 2023
As a business that has been proudly serving the capital for over 45 years and is part of London’s transport network, Addison Lee has always led the industry in safety and the environment. On the 21st of September we announced that our passenger car fleet will become fully electric by 2023 – at least two years before anyone else in the industry. We begin that journey with a partnership with Volkswagen and the roll out of their ID.4 SUV. This is the largest UK purchase of electric vehicles (EV) by a private hire provider, and the start of a £160m investment.
We were pleased to receive an endorsement from Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport, who praised Addison Lee for ‘leading the way through pledging to electrify their fleet by 2023.’ As we embark on our electrification programme we will learn and share our data and experiences with both National Government and the Mayor of London to help them achieve their air quality policies. We very much see this initiative as a partnership and if you would like to know more or partner with us directly then please contact

The Business Travel Show 2021
Last week, the Addison Lee Commercial and Marketing teams attended the Business Travel Show at ExCeL London – our first face-to-face event in over 2 years. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to catch-up with some familiar faces and meet new ones, and was timed perfectly with the introduction of our new EV’s and journey towards a fully electric fleet.
Across the two days of the show we hosted some incredibly valuable meetings, talking all things safety, post COVID-19 travel and our one-stop-shop passenger and courier proposition.
In line with our electrification journey and commitment to becoming a more sustainable business, we ran a competition on our stand to win a tour of London in a fully electric Addison Lee Volkswagen ID.4 and an overnight stay for two, including dinner, at the sustainable Tree House Hotel London.
With the Business Travel Show taking place in June next year, we’re diving straight into the planning. We hope to see you there!
