The first Greener Future Programme report

Welcome to a Greener Future!

Its been a very challenging and unusual year. We have introduced new measures into our services to make them COVID-19 safe – PPE for drivers, safety screens in vehicles and deep cleaning across the fleet. Among all the changes and uncertainty one thing has remained consistent – our commitment to reduce our impact on the poor air quality in London.

That’s why we are pleased to share the first Greener Future Programme report with you. Addison Lee has always aimed to be at the forefront of green initiatives. Our auto-allocator has seen a significant reduction in dead miles over the years and we have always invested in the most up-to-date vehicles.

As part of the Greener Future Programme we have partnered with Climate Care to offset all the carbon across our passenger and courier fleet. This means that when you ride with us or book a delivery it is 100% carbon neutral. All of the proceeds from the carbon offset programme are invested in projects in developing countries, supporting communities to improve their quality of life and helping the UN to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Closer to home, we have partnered with the Mayor of London, Borough Councils and local businesses to deliver green screens to some of London’s most polluted primary schools. This initiative has seen the installation of ivy walls, which absorb emissions and particulates, into several schools across the capital. The results have been very rewarding, with children having their exposure to harmful emissions reduced by up to 40%. This has enabled them to play outside for longer periods and we are keen to continue working with our customers to improve even more children’s lives.

In addition to the Greener Future Programme we are working on plans to shifting our fleet to electric vehicles. This won’t be easy, and it won’t happen overnight, but we are putting the framework in place to make this change and we hope to have something positive to share on this soon.

Finally, thank you for all your support for the Greener Future Programme. This is very much a partnership and we couldn’t deliver these projects and initiatives without you. You can read the full report below.
