First monthly update of 2022
Hello everyone,
I know it’s too late to wish you a Happy New Year, but as this is the first of my updates in 2022, I would like to extend my best wishes to you and hope that the year has served you well so far.
After a bit of a slow start to the year, we were pleased with the news that many businesses can welcome people back to the workplace. Now that we have got through January, we have some events to look forward to including Valentine’s Day, Pancake Day (I like mine with lemon and sugar) and planning days out during half term with my kids.
If you’ve missed earlier updates you can catch up here.
Lifting of Plan B restrictions
Plan B Covid restrictions lifted on January 27th, with the guidance in England to work from home has ended. I have seen the number of commuters join me on my way to London increase, as people begin to return to the workplace.
As people start to return to the office, they will be thinking about and planning their travel. If you would like to discuss ways in which Addison lee can support your business and colleagues as they return to the workplace or move around the capital for F2F meetings for the first time in a while, contact your dedicated Account Manager. Alternatively, you can speak with a member of our team on 020 3800 0365.
Our priority is, and always will be, getting you and your colleagues safely to where you need to be. For more information on our industry-leading safety and hygiene measures, head to our Safety Hub.
Demand for safe and sustainable private hire services
Last autumn saw a surge in the number of people travelling for work and leisure, which was great to see. Over the coming months, with all Government restrictions set to be removed, we hope to see a similar increase in demand. As demand rises, we are looking to recruit more quality drivers.
With a market-leading package for both existing and new drivers, including pensions, holiday pay, competitive vehicle rental plans, and Addison lee covering the cost of either the Congestion Charge or the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) – we’re best positioned to recruit the very best drivers available.
Stepping up our efforts to hire 1000 new passenger car drivers as announced mid-October. We’ve worked with Collective Benefits to create the AL Rewards package. Providing drivers with sick pay to physio support and mental health counselling, providing drivers with a whole range of wellbeing measures that are currently unavailable to other drivers in the industry.
Continuing the rollout of Electric Vehicles
As the number of electric vehicles continues to increase amongst our fleet you can expect to see more of our branded VW ID4s on the roads. The next time I write to you we will have 450 on London’s roads. Our drivers are embracing this shifting shift to our new electric vehicle as we work towards our pledge to be fully electric by 2023.
The key to a successful roll-out is supporting our drivers; as with any new technology, the drivers had lots of questions about their vehicle, the range, the space for passengers and their luggage and charging.
To find out more, listen to Addison Lee drivers David, Adebare and Suleyman on their experience of switching to EV and keeping London moving.
Thanks,
Wesley Bishop
